COL STEED: We have that scheduled at ten this morning.
GEN BOOMER: And I want that cleared up ASAP. 1/6, last night,
said they thought they were too close to the John Vipers, but 1/6
is in the British area. This has got to get unraveled
immediately. Even if we have to move, it cannot go on for
another 24 hours; so get back to me by the end of the day and
tell me what's going to be done to get that straightened out up
there, put back into some semblance of tactical defense. You
know what we need.
COL STEED: Yes, sir.
COL BEDARD: Sir, the chop of 1/6, and 1/6 being left there was
in agreement with the Brits.
GEN BOOMER: Yeah, I understand that.
COL BEDARD: Yes, sir. I knew it was coordinated with them.
GEN BOOMER: I'm not complaining. I'm not saying 1/6 did
anything wrong; just a lot of movement we don't have a handle on.
At least I have a feeling that we don't. Maybe we do.
COL BEDARD: Yes, sir, we do.
GEN BOOMER: Okay. Then you all can explain it all to me.
COL LIST: Sir, message out to NAVCENT, through the Navy chain
today, officially asking for the beach group and the chap group
personnel that we had identified for both the amphibious task
force and the lotts operation.
Confirmation that the 48 commercial forklifts we had
requested coming in from Britain are shipped and containerized.
We are tracking that. 17 Goi forklifts are in. We should have
them within the week. That will help out the situation. These
are all commercial, sir. That will help out Gen Brabham down in
the warehouse.
Tank training ammo has been picked up from the Army. We
anticipate a message, shortly, out of CENTCOM with coordinating
instructions on the issue of the 11 M-60A tanks, those that have
been requested; and we put out a coordination message, that's an
on-call type thing, for the Army tugs to be used to push our
causeways up to Mishab. It's on call until we get a good weather
picture, but we think its been coordinated with the Saudis, the
U.S. Navy, the Army, all concerned. We are going to try again.
That's all I have this morning, sir.
GEN BOOMER: Okay. You owe me a piece of paper which gives a
summary of ship arrivals.
COL LIST: Yes, sir.
