           In other training, Ripper conducted platoon and company
   level mechanized movement training. Task Force Taro conducted a
   task force size heliborne offensive cps brief for both the
   Division and wing staffs out at the Division headquarters. llth
   Marines conducted NBC defense and decon training; and 10th
   Marines conducted a COMMEX prior to commencement of their
   calibration fire.

           Continuing to track Army Phase II deployment, the current
   VII Corps status in country is 58,200 soldiers, of which nearly
   34,000 are in the field. The advance parties of all three
   brigades from the 3d Armored Division have arrived and 30 percent
   of the 3d AD gear is in theater. This is the last major combat
   element for Vil Corps that will arrive. Yesterday the MRS Bn
   deployed to the field, joining three artillery battalions already
   there, so they have a significant percent of their Corps assets
   in the field.

           I have no new information on Marine Corps Phase II
   deployment to brief today.

           one significant event called into the COC last night. We
   had a Saudi national apprehended near Ras al Mishab last night
   taking photographs of the new ASP under construction, apprehended
   by Marines from the 3d Marine Regiment; and based on current
   guidance, he was turned over to Saudi naval authorities at the
   naval base. Division CI was up last night trying to get more
   details and to fill out the report to go to CENTCOM.

   COL STEED: Sir, just an update on the number of American
   citizens or third-world country. Looks like 44 in the embasy
   compound now, probably an additional 60 that they think is in the
   country. They have contacted or are possible to evac. That's
   the latest on that; about 100 there.

   GEN JENKINS: You're talking Americans?

   COL STEED: Americans is 36 and about six third-world country
   inside the embasy to be evaced, and there's about another, oh, I
   guess 60 people they think are American citizens.

   GEN JENKINS: How about the other 300 that we originally asked to
   go get, other nations?

   COL STEED: I don't know that.

   GEN JENKINS: More than just Americans?

   GEN BOOMER: I expect we will end up taking them all out.

   COL STEED: That's all I have.

   GEN BOOMER: Okay. Bill I want you to chair a meeting with the
   two Division G-3's, whoever else is necessary. I have a feeling
   we are losing a handle on who's moving into where in our TAOR.
