within 1 kilometer of the EJSA for siistainrnent operations. 2nd !--'it
continued its area security mission for the FAST and LISA. During
this period 2 teams from 2nd Pit were instrumental in in mission
such as rec.@n of the RCIM and lanes for the breech site created by
             the lst ID for 7th C:orp. On 15 Feb 91 2nd Pit provided s@-o'-,.iri+y
for 1/32s ALOI--' and established a forward EPW collection point.
1/'@:2 conducted a faint which was intended to make the Iraqi-"s
believe that the C-av was attacking due north along Wadi Al r@,at3.n.
The mission was called 1:,u@,rn Bt-ister- 11 and inclided arty, P-ng,
chern, medic support. 2nd Pit's 2nd ':,qd in f,:.llowi.4p operations
provided security for ambulance P>z-:hange point. On -:-ne .-@perati-::-n
involving 1/5 C-AV the di'visi,--)n suffered its first casualties. On
25 Feb 91 one day after the ground war began the FAST moved no-r-th
to support 2nd E-:de in its movement tc- contact. Tt was related
that the movement could continue northward or that they coi-Lld
purposely break contact and move back to the west and go through
the Ist IDs breech with 7th 13 EPW's were taken in by 2nd
Pit from the var4o,-is task forces that day and the breech plan was
             chosen for the division. On 2L@, Feb 91 2nd E,EIE begins its rnovem,R n t
to the breech. 2nd Pit is purposely mixed throughout the FAST in
column for security and reporting purposes. The movement throi-igh
the breech and to the position took 26 hours of hard
driving. Once through the breech 2nd Pit provided a forward and
rearward screen for the FAST. In limited visibility using
compasses the pit lead the FAST through the battle field rnar@,.iTig
linexpic, ded ordinances and watching for any signs of enemy
activity. Upon reaching the battle position it was decided that
the FAST would split even further as fuel was desperately needed
by the Task Forces. Once again 2nd F'lt provided a screening
mission for the feelers and the ambulance pit. The other elements
of the FAST closed in on the EJSA. At C)430 -.n 28 Feb 91 the Pit
with the ambulance pit arrived -at the new FAST site as the
remainder of the fast had stopped some miles short of the
final objective. After securing 'he area, 2nd Pit irnnediatply
established its forward EPW -:age and began recieving EPWs alm,::,st
instantly. 2nd pits cage became the only functional EPW cage for
the division. Over I(( EPWs were processed and eva@-,-iated by 2nd
pit as well as destroying over 200 enemy weapons. At 0:?00 a cease
fire was declared and 2nd Pit along with the BEIE began a
sustainment ,,iission once again while in Iraq. On 12 Mar '.111 the
BEIE moved back into Saudi Arabia near D-Rear tc- begin preparation
for redeployment. The pit came back under company control on that
same day and began its law enforcement and area se@:,-Lr-ity rnissi-::--r.
similar to that at AA Horse. 'Ind Pit was once again chosen to
provide security assesrnent -:,f the b'llets that housed redeploying
             Cav soldiers.
