                   ':In 10 A,-Lg 90 the 545th MP C.c:,rnpany was alerted for deployment
             to southwest Asia in support of Operation Desert Shield. The
             monumental task of achieving 100% FMC on all equipment, obtaining
             desert issue items, F'C'Ming, and training soldiers on required
             subjects was accomplished witi over three weeks tr-, spare.
                   Two military police teams with :!--irnbat 1-:taded vehicles
             accompanied the assault command post to Saudi Arabia two weeks
             prior to the divisions arrival. The 545th MP Company deploy-L@d
             with all weapons systems as TAT. The 545th MP Company, one -@f the
             first units :,f the division to arrive in Saudi Arabia,
             immediately went guns Ap to ensure maximum security for incoming
             CAV troopers. 2,@-igadier General Tommy Fran[.-.s personally charged
             the 545th MP Company with protecting the lives of all division
             soldiers coming through the F'egasiis :!ornplex. The gener-al's
             statement "The success of the Ist Cavalry Division is in your
             hands" put ol-Lr- mission in to Perspective.
                   Twc, weeks after arriving in !"'.al-Ldi Arabia, 5/545th Plato,-in
             was chosen by the company commander to secure the Division
             Forward TAC.. This decision was based on the fact that 5/545th
             Platoon was the only true general support Platoon in the company.
             1/545th, 2/545th and 1/5C)2nd Platoons would eventually be sliced
             to their respective brigades, 4/545th Platoon was earrna?-@,ed t-:-
             secure the Division Main and third Platoon would be for enemy
             pr4 S '_-Lner of war operations. After one month o@ part security
             which inclided visits by Army Chief of Staff General Vc-LLno,
             Secretary of the Army Honorable Mr. c.'tc-ne.The unit deployed
             forward to AA Hc-rse.
                   4/545th Platoon acf:,:,rnp-anied the Elivisit-in Main 'r:, its TAA
             location leaving 1/545th, 2/545th, '-.'/545th, and I/ 5@-)2nd platc,,.-..ns
             to perform area security, battlefield circulation and c,@ntr@:,l,
             and law enforcement. For three months the unit waited for the
             build up of         and C:,-jalition forces. 1/545th and 2/545th
             Platoons se,:,ii-ed and controlled traffic fc@,- th@ 'E',ec@--Rtary -@f
             Defense Iames 2-ak.-@-r- during this File but security and ::rjn4rol of
             Ist Cav Division assets were c,i-Lr- primary concerns.        On 12
             December 1990, PFI:: Ronald Lcgan. a military policeman with 1/5p5
             MP CC-,, was critically injured in a vehicle r-c-11 ov.pr- while his
             vehicle was driving up to an             for static guard.      As a result
             of quick thinking and outstanding training lLT Robert O'E-.'@-ien,
             SFC Michael Ltiis, and SPC Eoyr,:,n '3ray received Soldiers Medals for
             extracting Lc,gan from a burning, til-ling vehicle and performing
             life sav4l-ig steps, whi@:r,. we're highly successful.
                   Pt-i-it- to the January 16th all three direct support platc..::,ns
             we-e sliced to their respective brigades. For five long, hard
             weeks, the 545th MP Company waited out the air campaign, training
             and patroling, and supporting the -t-c-igades 4-m all movements and
             pr-ecornb,at operations.
                   Due to the likely expectation of mass surrender and EPW
             operations the Ist Cavalry Division MP-'s were augmented by -Li-ie
             59th @',ilitary Fl,nlice C-o@npany from Pirrnasans, West C4er,,nany for 97PW
             :operations.   EF'W@s were ta@:,en, pt-ocessec, and evacuated from the
             1/7 C-av Screen by 2/5'@)th MP '--'c-.
