3. RECOMMENDATIONS:
a. Panzer Hotel Dining Facility.
(1) All food must be covered to prevent contamination.
Leftovers are not allowed in Theater due to the possibility of
contamination. Meat products can not be refrozon. However,
uncooked meat can be maintained in a refrigerator for up to 72
hours.
(2) Thermometers (NSN f 6685-00-444-6500) can be
ordered from supply. Food service personnel should use
thermometers to monitor food temperatures. Additionally, the
thermometers should be placed in the refrigerators/freezers to
monitor internal temperatures. The PM DET-SWA can provide a
small number of thermometers.
(3) Food service personnel must ensure that the caterer
is using proper dish washing procedures per TB MED 530.
(4) The latrines must be cleaned twice daily. A water
solution that contains one cup of bleach per gallon of water
should be used. It is not recommended that personnel involved in
the food preparation or serving be used to clean the latrines.
(5) The showers should be relocated onto the hard
stand. The hard stand will help evaporate the water quickly.
Personnel must not urinate in the showers. Showers must be
cleaned weekly with the water solution from above.
(6) The soakage pit is a nuisance and health hazard.
The area around the pit needs to be policed and cleaned. If use
of the pit is continued, it should be pumped by an SST as often
as necessary (minimum daily) to prevent over flow.
(7) The waste tank needs to be pumped down daily by an
SST. Spilled waste must be cleaned and the tank must stay
covered.
(8) Drinks and sodas can not be stored in water due to
possible contamination.
b. Wash Rack. The chain of command must ensure that the
latrines are kept clean. The SSTs are not responsible for
cleaning the inside of the latrines. The water solution of one
cup of bleach per gallon of water can be used to clean and
disinfect the latrines. A hand washing device must be located by
the latrines. A wash stand connected to a field shower makes an
excellent hand washing device.
