        SUBJECT: Minutes - Joint Working Group Meeting on Biological
        Warfare Laboratory Capabilities for the Area of Responsibility
        (AOR) for Operation Desert Shield (U)


        5. @ It was discussed that PCR capability is good only if
        sufficient quantities of DNA is available with the weapons grade BW
        agent. Environmental samples would be preferable compared to
        biomedical samples.

        6. (U) Estimated time periods required to perform the various
        tests are as follows:

            a. (U) 4 days for mouse-botulinum test

            b. (U) 24 hours to isolate, stain, and perform fluorescent
        microscopy on anthrax. Will take one additional day for the
        fermentation test.

            C. (U) 2 days for pathogenicity guinea pig tests.

            d. (U) 4-6 hours for PCR test
