                12) 0- Why hot water?
                    A- When decontaminating, there are some substances that , due to there
                        chemical composition, should not be exposed to hot water. It is up to the
                        operator to'determine the substance and act accordingly.

                        In most cases hot water greatly enhances rapid cleaning action.

                        1 @ Uses far less water than a cold deluge shower, allowing for easier
                        containment and disposal of contaminated water. Uses about 1-1/2
 40                     gallon I minute of warm, concentrated water. With high volume, high
                        pressure deluge showers, the substance to be removed could be driven
                        deeper into the skin or clothing of the person being decontaminated.
                        2. Eliminates risk of thermal shock. Even in warmer climates, water can
                        be substantially below body temperature which can cause more than
                        discomfort.
                        3. Some oily substances that are almost impossible to remove without
                        hot water unless strong detergents or solvents are used, These
                        substances can be just are harmful as the substance to be removed.
