                                    Conducted a staff briefing of the artillery
                                    support of offensive operations.

           19 Feb 1991              Operation Desert Storm Ground Attack Day
                                    Minus Five (S-5). Ilth Marines units
                                    continued to move forward to occupy positions
                                    near the southwest corner of the Saudi-Kuwait
                                    border. Ilth Marines engineers began
                                    preparing revetted and bermed positions near
                                    the border to be Occupied by the -Firing
                                    batteries, regimental and battalion command
                                    posts, and logistics trains. Battery "E" 2/12
                                    conducted two separate artillery raids as part
                                    of TF Troy +iring 110 rounds of HE and
                                    destroying several buildings and outposts
                                    tjith secondary explosions reported. Other
                                    specific noteworthy events included:

                0615:   E/2/12 OCCUPIED FIRING POSITION AT GRID OS 805 510 TO
                        CONDUCT ARTILLERY RAID ON ENEMY COMPOUND. PLAN CALLED
                        FOR BATTERY TO MARK TARGET FOR AIR, BUT LIMITED
                        VISIBILITY PREVENTED AIR ATTACK. BATTERY FIRED 40
                        ROUNDS HE DELAY AT 0627 DESTROYING BUILDINGS IN THE
                        ENEMY COMPOUND AT US 809 607 WITH NUMEROUS SECONDARY
                        EXPLOSIONS REPORTED. BATTERY DISPLACED AT 0835 TO
                        RETURN TO ITS ASSEMBLY AREA POSITION.


                1235:   5/11 OCCUPIED POSITIONS IN ASSEMBLY AREA NEAR GRID
                        QS 52 49; MISSION GENERAL SUPPORT (OS).

                1440:   E/2/12 RECEIVED FRAGMENTARY ORDER (FRAGO) FROM TF TROY
                        TO CONDUCT RAID ON POLICE POST ACROSS BORDER AT 1530.
                        BATTERY IMMEDIATELY DISPLACED AND OCCUPIED FIRING
                        POSITION AT GRID TM 102 506 AT 1610. BATTERY FIRED 70
                        ROUNDS OF HE AT 1714 ON TWO OBSERVATION POSTS AT GRIDS
                        TM 171 606 AND TM 179 609, DESTROYING SUILDINGS WITH
                        SECONDARY EXPLOSIONS REPORTED. BATTERY DISPLACED AT 1715
                        AND REOCCUPIED ASSEMBLY AREA POSITION.

                2008:   3/12 COMPLETED OCCUPATION OF FIRING POSITIONS AT GRID
                        OS 54 62;   MISSION DIRECT SUPPORT (DS) TF GRIZZLY.

           20 Feb 1991              Operation Desert Storm G-4. Ilth Marines
                                    units continued to move forward into assembly
                                    areas in preparation for the ground offensive.
                                    The engineer effort continued to prepare
                                    improved positions near the border. Specific
                                    noteworthy events included:

                1030: VERBAL FRAGO ISSUED TO 1/12 TO DISPLACE TO VICINITY GRID
                        QS 73 51 IN ORDER TO SUPPORT TF TARO SCREENING AND
                        INFILTRATION OPERATIONS.
