to come with them. Col Sylvester speaks to something less than a
third of what he believes he needs, maybe about a 6th of what we
think he needs; but he will be back later with the staff and get
into the details of it. That's all I have, sir.
COL HASTINGS: Just one thing, sir. @spoke with you
yesterday, and for the information of everybody else that has 5 U.S.C. 552
anything to do with the Saudi liaison officer, he's one man ana
he's a hell of a pipeline, but we got a lot of stuff that has to (b)(6)
go through that very small pipeline, so we are going to have to
get us all together, those of us who are going to deal with
and talk about how we are going to want to do this. We
coup "inundate him in a heartbeat, but as it stands right now
this is one more of those examples of bureaucratic things that
can happen to us. We can send things all the way to Riyadh to
VIODA, if it doesn't have his chop on it it could come back to us,
whether that's operational or logistical, either way, so we are
going to have to get our heads together there, G-3 and G-4, and
anybody else that has anything to do with it.
: one other thing for the benefit of those here,
ikais still in the area. He still is very influential with
the Royal Commission. He was very instrumental in us making 5 U.S.C. 552
headway in that area for the fleet hospital, so if you see him (b)(6)
around, he's still very much a player.
COL HASTINGS: Lastly, today, as everybody I hope is well aware,
we have Gen Gray, LtGen Mundy, LtGen Winglass, LtGen Williams,
MGen Sheehan and assorted other representatives arriving very
shortly. We have decentralized control of a number of these
assets. We have action officers - the action officer on Gen
Winglass is Gen Brabham and of course the G-4; the action officer
on Gen Mundy is his able MEF liaison officer; Gen Williams is
John Oppenbuizen and Maj Breen and also the Wing CG; Gen Sheehan
is the G-1 and I'm not sure anybody will handle Gen Gray, but we
will give it a try. In any case, we are going to have to move,
shoot and communicate simultaneously with these things, so stay
alert, Gentlemen.
Leaving here, those common areas that you walk through,
if that common area belongs to you and its got coffee stains and
cookie droppings and whatever else around there, make sure we get
it policed up. I saw policing going on, we still got a long way
to go to spruce up. Be in here this afternoon for some
briefings, be over in the other side at noon for some lunch. I
want you to stay away from those areas in a sense that you add
traffic to it. You got business, that's great, but just come
lookie loo or any of that business.
As far as this meeting is concerned this afternoon, it is
a MEF brief of these officers, it is not intended for the
participation of the MSCs. Request that if you don't already
know that you're going to attend this thing and have a speaking
part, that you not try to add yourself to this list. We have
very little room in here. We want to keep it as cool as
possible. We will have some guys standing outside here awaiting
