          enemy killed and 23 captured soldiers.        This action was decisive in
          closing the main highway as an enemy escape route to Iraq.
              SSgt Summers' aggressive action while in contact with the enemy,
          coupled with his coolness under fire, contributed immeasurably to the
          battalions complete success in accomplishing its mission. His numerous
          engagements with enemy forces while maintaining the momentum of the
          attack,   greatly enhanced the ability of the battalion and the 6th
          Marine's   to accomplish     their missions. Staff       Sergeant Summers'
          initiative and courageous actions under fire were inspiring to his men,
          and greatly contributed to the overall success of the 2d Marine Division
          attack.
