engagements occuring both Enroute and at the blocking position, Captain
McMonagle's Company destroyed eight enemy vehicles and captured or
killed 40 enemy. Between each of these three engagements Captain
McMonagle continuously moved about his company directing unit movements
and fires. Captain McMonagle continued to work throughout the night to
integrate the position with adjacent and supporting units. His staunch
defense of the company blocking position effectively shut down the
enemy's principal route of egress to the west from Kuwait City. Captain
McMonagle's decisive action and inspired leadership contributed
significantly to the successful completion of the battalion's assigned
Mission. The gallantry and intrepidity displayed by Captain McMonagle
ensured the success of Company F, 2d Battalion, 2d Marines and
contributed significantly to the overall success of the liberation of
Kuwait.
