relaved on azimuth 0600 and assioned the task of answering those calls for fire on
19 Februarv. On 21 February, Battery "F" 2/14 displaced forward to oositions
vicinitv US 500 720 to support screening ooerations bv 3d Battalion. 23rd Marines
across the Kuwait border. On the mornino and earlv afternoon of 23 February,
Battery "F" 2/14 and Batterv "I" fired in support of 3rd Battalion. 23rd Marines
screening operations exoendina 121 rounds of RAP. The BDA indicated one T-55 tank
destroyed bv fires from Batterv "F" 2/14. On the evenina of 23 Februarv our
tactical mission became aeneral suoport to 2d Marine Division as the battalion
moved across the Kuwait border and occupied oositions vicinitv DS 587 838 southwest
of the Umm Sudair oil field. The move was conducted in EMCON "A" or radio
listening silence. "A" Command and advanced Darties moved at 1730. Batterv "F"
2/14 at 1830. Battery "I" at 1900, Battery "H;. 3/12 at 2000. "B" Command at 2015.
and Combat Trains at 2045. All elements were in olace bv 2300.
At 0529 on 24 Februarv "Seven for One" commenced firina preparation fires as
the around offensive for Doeration "Desert Storm" becan. The battalion eXDended 145
RAP. 64 DPICM, and 12 HE. "A" Command and advanced Darties disolaced forward
throuah the breach in the first and second obstacle belts alano route Green 6 at
1730 and occuoied positions vicinitv UT 668 073 to the north west of Al Jaber
airfield. Thev were followed bv Batterv "I" at 1805. Batterv "H" 3/12 at 1850.
Batterv "F" 2/14 at 1941, "B" Command at 2005. and the Combat Trains at 2020. All
elements were in olace bv 2300. Althouah these Dosition areas were coordinated with
.. 6th Marines conducted a osycholooical operation in the
area east and adjacent to the battalion headouarters. This action resulted in
small arms and heavy machine oltn fire impacting in several areas within the
battalion position.
25 February saw 3d Battalion. 10th Marines return to its traditional mission of
direct supoort to gth Marines at 0924. To supoort the continued attack bv ath
Marines, the "A" Command and Batterv "F" 2/14 advanced oarties prepared to follow
in trace of the lead battalions (2/4 and 1/8) while the remainder of the battalion
provided fires. "A" command set down vicinitv UT 668 185. Batterv "F" 2/14
displaced forward and occuoied a firing position vicinitv UT 680 185. Because
of the reduced visibility resulting from oil well fire soot. coupled with the
numerous Iraqi trench lines to be crossed. the decision was made to leave the
remaining firing batteries, "B" Command, and the Combat Trains in position until
first liaht on 26 February. The battalion Drovided fire support throuatiout the
niaht to include those delivered as Sth Marines reoulsed a disjointed Irac i counter
-attack in the earlv mornina hours of 26 February. Bv first light. "Seven for One"
had eXDended 24 HE, 503 RAP, 228 DPICM. and 16 Illum durino 52 direct suoport
missions.
Battery "H" 3/12 and Battery "I" displaced forward at 0843 and 0846
respectively on the mornina of 26 Februarv. Batterv "I" occupied a firing position
vicinity of UT 664 192 and Battery "H" 3/12 at UT iAl 196. "B" Command did not
join on "A" Command but moved forward to occupy a oosition short of the Bth Marines
Line of DeDartLtre vicinity of UT 674 266 north east of Al-Abdalivah. Batterv "H"
3/12 disolaced in order to follow in trace of 8th Marines. Batteries "F" 2/14 and
their attack closed on the outskirts of Kuwait
City. "A" Command occuoied OT 658 319 and as Batterv "H" 3/12 occuoied it's firina
position vicinitv UT 692 340, Battery "I" displaced forward to UT 681 352. Once
Battery "I" was in place. Batterv "F" 2/14 displaced forward to OT 655 326. and "B"
Command olus Combat Trains closed on "A" Command. As darkness fell on the evenina
