                SLtbi; INPUT FOR IST MARDIV SUMMARY OF ACTION

                1. Subject input is submitted as follows:

                     a. B-3, 21 Feb 91.

                           (1) Task Force occupied its tactical assembly area
                (vic QS 653473).  3/9 to the northwest, 1/1 to the northeast
                and lst Tanks to the south.


                     b. 6-2,  4'2 Feb 91.

                           (1) At 1300, final TF sandtable exercise conducted.

                     C. B-1,  23 Feb 91.

                           (1) initially Division Reserve in assembly area

                           (2) 0700, Z/9 dispatched its two Universal Spotter
                Team vehicles, along with STA teams, to recon route to the berm
                near the Saudi/['utiaiti border. The STA teams continued to
                recon movement routes and battle positions up to the first
                obstacle belt.


                           (3) At 170(i, TF placed in MOPP 2 and rested the
                remainder of the evening.

                     d. G-Day, 24 Feb 91.

                           (1) 0200, TF began movement to attack position. 3/9
                in lead, followed by Ist Tanks and 1/1.

                           (2) 05713, TF crossed PL Black into Kuwait.

                           (3) 0745, TF poised in attack position.

                           (4) ()748, 3/9 crossed LOD and moved to assault
                position (vic: QS 73(j77-0).

                           (5) 0905, 3/9 commenced breach of first obstacle belt
                (vic QS 765765). Obstacle belt described as a front barbed
                ujire fence, a 120m deep AP/AT minefield and a rear barbed t-sire
                fence.

                through.

                           (7) All TF assault battalions through the breach by
                1 '4C)5. No resistance encountered. Breach support team created
                two additional lanes.
