0700 - lst breach encountered, OCD's from Mach and Tanks sent forward.
Mines at this belt appear to be surface laid Italian mines. Minefield
marked with triple strand barbed wire fence on enemy and friendly aide. No
           enemy opposition at this time.

Both OCD's had dud lines charges which had to be primed by hand. Mine plow
tank in mech breach #3 hits a mine and blows off one track. 3rd Tanks move
           through.

0745 - C Co. moves through breach *3, stray mines noted on both sides of marked
mine field. Vehicles stay in columns till well clear of enemy side of mine
field, plus in column well before fence on friendly aide.

At this time, Mech and Tanks attacked suspected enemy positions NE of the
breach site, no enemy encountered. Bn forms up on the move and moves to BP 17.
C Co. orients on line towards open flanks to the East. TF Papa Bear
conducting breach to SE at this time.

0945 - Bn moves out to second breach site.

1000 - Arrive at second breach site. Begin to receive inaccurate incoming
mortar rounds. Platoons maneuvers out of impact zone. Mortars appear to small
fragment munitions, no anti-armor munitions (is DPICM type).

1040 - Breach complete, 3rd Tanks begin to pass. At this time enemy surrenders
in large numbers. C Co. tasked with moving EPW'G out of the breach site to
rear where 1/5 will take charge. C Co. Commander Capt S.R. Snook orders his
2nd Plt forward with my second section to take charge, be then orders let Pit,
lat section forward to aegist. EPW's to strip down to skivvies on Capt Snack'g
           order.

1130 - C Co. move through the breach site. Weapons found in enemy trenches on
A
(at least 400) hampered the Bn'a movement through the breach site. More
planning and better organization needs to been done to speed up these people to
the rear without tying up the maneuver element. Some type of EPW handling unit
should be right with the BN to take charge of this people ASAP without
hampering the movement of the Bn at a critical bottleneck.

1200 - Bn reorganizes for attack on the Emir's Farm. Team Tank acts as a base
of fire, while mech and C Co. envelop from the west. Mach and C Co. out in
column, flank to come on-line and dismount infantry. In C Co. let and 3rd
section drop grunts while 2nd remain mounted. No enemy activity is observed In
the tree line and grunts advance at a leisurely pace behind an BIMM derived
smoke screen. AAV'G move slowly behind the infantry in the tree line. C Co.
mortars try hip shoots from 2 Km out, rounds fall short and danger close for
advancing friendlier. More EPW's taken by mech and C Co. at farm, C Co.
Commander believes there is a AP minefield in farm area, advance limited to 25
           meters beyond tree line.

1400 - Bn remounts and regroups for attack on Al Jaber, skies becoming darker
due to massive amounts of smoke pouring from burning oil wells.

1500 - Bn moves out in a wide NW arc towards Al Jaber, Airfield. CATT teams
take at least 4 enemy tanks along the way. Bn is in a wedge.
