At 1200, enemy had been destroyed and all displaced elements returned to
their positions in the Bn formation.
- At 1300, 3/11 signaled 'Gas' so the Bn donned and cleared.
- At 1330, 'All Clear' was sounded.
- At 1500, continued attack towards Kuwait International Airport. Formation
integrity was maintained as beat as possible, but this wag difficult due to the
streets of the shanty town. Gunners and grunts (on vehicles with cargo hatches
open) maintained a watchful eye for snipers.
- As the lead elements reach the breach point outside of the city, mortars
received a fire mission and set up quickly in an awkward formation due to
constraints of the city streets. Following their fire mission, movement
continued towards the breach site.
- The Bn moved into two files through the two lanea.
- After the breach site, we hit a rock quarry and had to circumvent.
- The Bn formed into a single file along the rim of the quarry.
- As we reach the outskirts of Kuwait City, the sky was dark again.
- Setting up was done quickly and safely, Dragons D-33 drove into a trench as
it was being ground guided; safely retrieved.
- D-00 received a new plenum line, D-53 repaired the final drive which had a
small leak.
- All Marines were accounted for.
- All 3rd platoon vehicles were 100% up at Kuwait City.
- All weapons a KY gear was accounted for.
- AN/VVS's did not offer to much due to the thick dark cloud cover from the
burning oil wells. Thermal sights like tanks and Tows are needed.
- D-33's M-85 functioned without mishap due to it being well lubricated (along
with the rounds)
- Sections adjusted to the terrain (and masked themselves well).
owed for 100% AAV
participation through the entire campaign.
