(the ambulance AAV) pulled up to the head of the column to corral EPW's (since
they carry cooks/bakers who were non-essential in the breach effort and the
Emir'g Farm after). Mortars also called 'Snowstorm' as they receive incoming.
- At the second breach, the main again formed on signal in a single file.
Mortars again also displaced Just ahead of the main. Main set up facing the
direction of the next attack while the Jump drove up to the tree line of the
Emir'g Farm.
- Whiles the lead element was engaging at Al Jaber Air field, the main was
again a Kilometer back keeping the soft top HMIIWV's safe from any fire.
- As the main did an ata- halt check, D-00 discovered a leak in the plenum
line; when we pulled into the position for the night, the line wag covered with
duck tape since there were no gpare lines.
- 1/7 set up defensive position Northwest of Al Jaber Airfield. Main took
control for the night. At -halt checks were done and accountability of men,
weapons, and equipment wag conducted. go incidents through the night.
25 Feb 91
- Remained in blocking position. Refuel at 1000 (except for main and Jump
which Pefueled the night prior by D Co. M249)
- At 1500, Bn was relieved in place by follow-on forces, Bn reformed in a
wedge in preparation for attack on the 26th. Just about that time, the sky
became completely black. C Co. AAV's just to the right of the main fell into
the bunker. (The beat way most AAV drivers were avoiding falling into
corrugated steel covered bunkers of hitting a mine wag to follow directly in
the tracks of the AAV in front of them.) We again were using night vision
devices. Surprisingly they received star light and moon light cutting through
he thick black clouds.
- At approximately 1900, 3/11 reported 'Gas' so the main immediately checked
its CAM (Chemical Agent Monitor). The main ordered to avoid movement in
complete darkness, stayed in its formation.
26 Feb 91
- At 0630, we moved out, NE towards Kuwait International Airport.
- Resumed normal formations.
- At 1130,@ combat train engaged in a fire fight with 2 Iraqi armored vehicles
(Tracked) and dozens of dismounted enemy.
- The main AAV's drove towards a berm to lay down cover fire for the soft skin
vehicles.
- Mortars set up under powerlineg in support of B Co. and had to adjust to
get clear shotg. B Co. wag calling in fire missiong.
- Dragons D-33 drove into the rock quarry to engage the enemy. M-85 was used
to fire off 200 Pounds. Dismounted dragons Marines assaulted by fire until
clear dragon shot was offered. Dragons destroyed BMP.
- Log/Ambulance D-53 cut towards a berm to dismount the cooks and bakers.
