            1. Summary of Action:

            24 Feb 1991

0001 - Even though there was to be about 80% illumination this night, it was
extremely dark because of cloud cover. We had to use the AN/VVS's and the VVG,
and that illuminated the the marked route into Kuwait. At the same time, we
could clearly pick up the LAI IR beacons. As they moved up forward, however,
they cut off the main from C Company. Approximately 12 vehicles darted in
front of the lead AAV in the main. Dragons were following B Co; the
log/ambulance tractor wag in the combat train behind the R7 and D-39. Mortars
move in a wedge behind the Jump, through the smugglers berm. The Bn (1/7)
            moved into a single file.

      - lat breach site: Main and combat train formed from four columna into a
single file to pass the breach site. This was done on signal from by the
breach site (500 metera short) to allow dispersion for a maximum period.
Mortars had been set up 1200 meterg on the friendly side of obstacles. They
displaced right after C Co. crossed and just ahead of the main.

            - After the Ist breach, a couple hour wait. At a halt maint checks done.

            - Just before the second breach site, the main received three incoming mortar
rounds 100 meterg to its 3 o'clock; C Co. also received some fire, so all the
vehicles moved out of the incoming zone. As EPW's were being captured, D-53

                                                                                             IWLIOSME (5)
