          8. (U) VETERINARY SERVICES            UNCLASSIFIED

               a. (U) 44th Medical Brigade is responsible for providing
          veterinary support, as required, in the AOR for all US forces.

               b. (U) Particula- emphasis will be placed on the inspection ol
          any subsistence obtained through local procurement.

               C. (U) USARCENT forces will be kept informed of the prevalence of
          endemic zoonotic diseases and will be informed ol measures to be taken
          to preclude transmittal of disease to personnel. This will be
          accomplished by forwarding information up to the 44th Medical Brigade
          who will in turn notify the Corps Surgeon's Office.

          9. (U) MILITARY BLOOD PROGRAM

               a. (U) The ESCENTCOM JMBPO will control the total blood
          management program in the AOR.

               b. (U) Class VIII B medical supplies (blood and by-products) will
          be handled through the 32d MEDSOM and its subordinate units in the XVIII
          Airborne Corps AOR. Blood processing and distribution units within
          DHAHRAN area will be responsable for the receiving, repacking, and
          breakdown of the Class VIII B products. Customer units will make
          arrangements to pick up supplies. Primary means of transportation for
          Class VIII B is aeromedical aircraft, secondary will be ground
          transportation.

          10. (U) MEDICAL SUPPLY (CLASS VIII A)

                a. (U) Medical Prepositioned War Reserve Stocks (PWRS)

                     (1) (U) The Medical Instrument and Supply Set. Resupply Set
          (MRS) No. 2. NSN 6546-00-864-6261, constitutes the basic prepositioned
          medical material for Army forces.

                     (2)       The MRSs No. 2, less the potency and dated items
          with less than 24 months potency period, are prepositioned in the AOR.
          These MRSs are on a two year maintenance cycle.

                b. (U) The Medical Initial Preplanned Supply Support (IPSS) for
          Army forces will be developed by Army Material Command based upon Army
          Surgeon General computations of phased preplanned requirements of this
          OPLAN. The intent of IPSS is to fill the resupply gap between the
          consumption of accompanying supplies and initiation of the demand
          (requisition from AOR) based on resupply. IPSS assets will be computed
          as due-in assets during the computation of requisition objectives.
