b. (U) Unit field sanitation teams will deploy with adequate
supplies of pesticides, equipment, and water purification supplies as
established in TC B-3.
C. (U) Personnel will be immunized in accordance with appropriate
service directives. USARCENT Surgeon will prescribe special
immunizations as required 'or specific areas within the AOR.
d. (U) Utmost attention will be given to preventive medicine
aspects of medical care in the civilian populace. All public health
considerations will be carefully monitored to preclude an epidemic.
e. (U) Unusual occurence of diseases affecting US personnel and
the civilian population, as well as remedial actions, will be promptly
reported to the USARCENT Surgeon.
f. (U) All water sources, to include the municipal systems, will
be considered nonpotable unless approved by US military medical
authority. Due to occurrence of Schistosomiasis in the AOR, all surface
water will be treated prior to use.
g. (U) Preventive Medicine will be conducted IAW applicable
service directives and regulations.
h. eta-" The deployment of medical units was purposely front loaded
with preventive medicine teams to maximize the expertise available in
the field from the onset of the operation. It has been estimated that
at peak periods of the operation, as many as 50% of casualties will be
diseased, non-battle injuries. This number can be significantly reduced
with a strong preventive medicine program.
7. (U) DENTAL SERVICES. The dental care provided within the AOR will
be limited to treatment necessary to alleviate impairment of the
individual's ability to perform his/her duties. Dental support will be
provided on an area basis by either organic dental support of the units,
or by dental teams from HA teams scheduled to participate.
