(2) Intermediate General Support Maintenance (IGSM).
IGSM will be performed in support of the theater supply
system through the repair of assemblies, components, and
modules# RX items, printed circuit boards (PCB)O and
-operational readiness float (ORF). They will be loca"ted in
the COMMZ and operate in semifixed or fixed facilities.
The repair parts stockage of these units is limited to the
items required to support their assigned maintenance
missions.
c. Depot Maintenance. Army materiel Command (AMC) depots
or activities, depl6ye-d-teams, contractors# and/or host nation
support personnel perform this level of maintenance in support
of the supply system. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) is
developed to specify depot maintenance missions in the theater
of operations.
4. MAINTENANCE MISSION.
a. Theater Army (TA). The primary mission of the TA
materiel maintenancF-o-peFation is to support the combat
readiness and effectiveness of the Army in the field. This
mission is accomplished by field maintenance activities
organized under the Army three-level maintenance system. The
TAIDS maintenance units are normally assigned to Area Support
Groups (ASG) and are responsible for the maintenance readiness
of units in, or passing through, the COMMZ and backup
intermediate (Ds) maintenance to corps units, as required.
b* Corps. Units within the Corps Support Command (COSCOM)
provide ia3=ntenance support, RX items, ORF, and unit repair
parts supply to customer units on an area or assigned basis.

facilitate the implementation of the forward support concept to
support designated end items and weapon systems.
5. MAINTL-NANCE FLOW (STRUCTURE).
a. Theater Army. Repairable equipment exceeding the
maintenance unit capability is given priority for evacuation
over equipment that requires extensive repairs, overhaul, or is
totally nonrepairable. Generally, major combat systems are
evacuated before support vehicles and lesser weapon systems.
Priorities for evacuation are determined by the the appropriate
MMC# in consonance with Army headquarters OPLAN guidance*
b. corps. Nondivisional conventional equipment and
missile system IDSM units accomplish maintenance support within
the corps support boundaries. Aviation intermediate
maintenance support is provided by companies/battalions,
operating within maintenance battalion/company, which operates
