               SUBJECT! AAR Operation Desert Shield


               1. Purpose: This report addresses various functional areas or issues rela@ed to our
               -.participation in Operation Desert Shield.
               2.   Scope;  This report is written from the perspectives of the'.3d Battalion, 43d Air,
               Defense Artillery Regiment staff and batteries: While a comprehensive treatment of
               -all functional areas is the objective, the passage of time and reality of human
               memory make the most contentious issues easiest to recall. The time period of this
               report is from the week of 6 August 1090 to the present. The focus of this report is
               on the performance of the battalion staff and batteries during Operation Desert
               Shield.      Actions by llth Air Defense Artillery Brigade and higher headquarters. as
               well as-platoon actions, are only considered for their affect on the battalion and
              ..batteries.

                     Format: This report consists of a main body and a large number of enclosures.
             ..The main body pontaine a atimmrized description of'Oarious issues, as well as, actual
               or proposed qolutions to problems mentioned in the issues.           The report addresses
               issues in a chronological order, with divisions according to the major events of the
               operation.
