                                      Event 4 1 PRE-DEPLOYMENT



            A.    introduction:


                               1. Ore-deployment covers the period from the week of 6 August
            1990 (when our initial notification for possible deployment occurred) to the
            departure of our @4rat battery (F) elements during the week of 2 September 1990.
            This section does not include the actions of the advance party which deployed
            to/with ARCENT during the early days of the crisis.

                               a. Primary events which took place during this period include:


                               1) Extensive     training     on   PDB-3   capability of the system,
                               including comprehensive check-out of new software releases.

                               2) Upgrading training status of the batteries to effectively fulfill
                               this particular contingency mission.

                               3) Personnel qualification for overseas movement e.g. weapon zero
                               and qualification, immunizations, legal/financial matters, mask
                               f4tting, eta..

                               4) Activation, briefings, and initial meetings of the family support
                               chains and groups.


                               b, Staff actions necessary for this mission!

                               S-1: Personnel requisitions, chapter actions/suspenses on non-
                               deployables, rear detachment.

                               S-2: Maps, intelligence updates, security clearances, physical
                               security, document security.

                               S-3: Operations, plans, OPSEC, pre-deployment training, movement
                               planning.

                               S-4:   All classes of supplies and @e@vices-status, requisitions,
                               track;ng; budget.


            B. The following issues have been selected for discussion from unit and staf    f inputs.
