11FEB91; Rough Terrain Cargo Handler (RTCH) arrived at
TAA Henry and began loading of Milvans/ISO shelters on
S&Ps. A total of 22 S&Pg was used in the first lift. A
second lift of 14 S&Pg still left showers, latrines
('shitters') and minor items which were later retrieved
with 5Ton trucks. Training: Open Fx, Air Evacuation
(Huey on site).
12FEB91: 128 Forward moved out of TAA Henry to a site in
the 'Neutral Zone' designated as MEDCEN WEST (N 28
minutes 50.72 seconds, E 45 minutes 36.62 seconds).
The living tents of the 403rd CSH were the only other
feature at the site on arrival. 'Our' artillery and
red flares were easily seen just to the north of our
position.
13FEB91: Continued to met up living area tents, awaited
the RTCII. Two ANC reservists joined the 128th from
410th EVAC. (ILT Robinson and ILT Suber)
14FEB91; RTCII placed ISO shelters. LSE ordered from the
N.ISB to WEDCEN WEST site. 1400 2 S&Ps and I 5Ton truck
departed TAA Henry for MEDCEN WEST (see arrival time on
the 15th).
15FEB91: 128 Main Body arrived after a long, DUSTY!' ride
in the back of 5Tong. One 5Ton with 4 officers and 12
enlisted soldiers spent the night in the desert as the
MPs wouldn't allow our convoy to bypass the bumper to
bumper traffic of waiting for a division of tanks to
move along MSR Sultan. TEMPER ward assembly began.
17FEB91; LSE team received casualties from 'friendly
fire' Bradley accident. As we did not know at the time
it was 'friendly fire'-we thought the ground war had
started. This certainly was a motivational factor in
getting the rest of the hospital ready.
19FEB91; Refinements to hospital continued. Admitted our
first inpatient.
20FED91; OR ready. Hospital absorbed LSE.
24FEB91: 0-day: Ground war began. Bombing/shelling
sounds were heard almost non-stop. MEDCEN WEST units
consist of 128th CSH, 403rd CSH, 142nd Clearing Co.,
343rd Med Co. (Amb), 429th Wed Bn. and 436th Air Amb.
Co.
25FEB91: Began receiving war casualties. (see patient
lo8. Chapter 2).
