      o wear  an impermeable suit which would increase heat burden
      onsiderably.
       (u)        CW Defensive Capability. During the war with-IRAN,
     Iraqi chemical defensive personnel were included in
     reconnaissance parties during defensive operations only when
     General Headquarters in BAGHDAD gave notice of impending chemical
     operations. Chemical defensive units are capable of establishing
     decontamination areas, however, each Iraqi soldier carries Soviet
     protective masks and clothing, detector kits, decontamination
     equipment, and atropine ampoules. Chemical units are capable of
     establishing gas-free environments at brigade or higher echelons
     using Soviet filtration devices.
