                a. Description. Ciprofloxin is used if the commander
suspects imminent exposure to Anthrax or certain other
biological warfare agents. It consists of ciprofloxacin
hydrochloride tablets (10 total) which are packaged in a blister
pack. Each blister pack contains enough tablets for 5 days (one
            tablet taken twice a day).

                b. Issue to Soldier. Soldier should be issued a 10 day
            supply (2 blister packs).

                c. Principle Use. The commander will initiate presumptive
treatment with ciprofloxin, based upon recommendation by ACSOPS
            NBC Officer and ARCENT Headquarters.

                d. General precautions.

                     (1) Soldiers should be advised that ciprofloxin may be
taken with or without meals. However, if taken with meals, the
rate of effectiveness is delayed 2 hours as opposed to the
normal rate of 1 hour. The preferred time of ingestion is two
hours after a meal. Soldiers should also be advised to drink
fluids liberally and not take antacids containing magnesium or
            aluminum.

                      (2) Ciprofloxin may be associated with
hypersensitivity reactions, even following a single dose.
Discontinue use of the drug at the first sign of a skin rash or
            other allergic reactions.

                      (3) Use of ciprofloxin may cause dizziness and
