                1. (U)     SITUATION


                     a.   (U)    Enemy Forces. Annex A (Intelligence)

                     b.   (U)    Friendly Forces.

                           (1)         In response to directives by the
                National  Command Authority, CINCCENT directed that Cdr,
                Third US  Army provide designated Army forces to deter an
                attack by Iraq into Saudi Arabia. As the ARCENT component,
                Cdr, Third US Army has charged Cdr, XVIII Abn Corps, with
nt a+ operational
                lodgement areas and the deployment of sufficient land forces
                to deter/de+eat an Iraqi attack.

                           (2)         Currently, the DRB, 82d Abn Div has
                deployed to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia and is preparing to move
                to Al Jabayl to establish lodgement areas at that location.
                A +allow-on brigade from the 82d Abn Div is preparing to
                deploy and occupy Dhahran c/o. A brigade from the 24th ID
                is nearing seali+t upload and will deploy into the CENTCOM
                AOR.


                           (3)         US ADA elements include elements a+ 3-4
                ADA in direct support a+ 82d Abn Div. Saudi Arabian ADA
