S. Theater Update/Requirements.
None
C,. EAC Update/Requirements.
a. MAJ Rokke and COL Hawkins at 593rd having meeting on
ration storage long term at SUPCOM.
b. A)-my food may go to Saudias/ Humanitarian missions, etc
but nothing definite resolved.
0. 6th Fieet Navy closed at Bahrain -> Marines have groups
leaving 2nd and 3rd week of April and 3rd group on
indefinite hold.
7. Class A Rations Information/Reports.
a. The 300th M.P. EPW Camp reported a nail found in Al
Zamil meat per SSG Stevens who presented the nail to the
group for review. COL Trask/ MAJ Jackson wanted SSG Stevens
to assure 300th M.P. Company that plant had been inspected
because of similar complaints, received a critical failure
for foreign objects in production (plastic), and their plant
had called to say they had resolved sanitary production
problems favorably. MAJ Jackson will re-inspect tomorrow
and phone results in to LTC Lively. in the meantime all Ai
Zamil meat should be checked at the warehouses for foreign
objects/ plastic in their lots and passed or failed by lot
depending on results.
b. SSG Stevens found rats in lettuce at EPW Camp and
condemned. Currently 7,000 EPW at East Camp with 1,000-
3,000 more processing in currently. They are feeding mostly
B rations and T rations which are heated in large pots/
kettles for serving.
8. Operational Ration Information/Reports.
MAJ Geiser says Air Force at Warehouse #34 has told him they
are starting an Air Force POMCUS Ration storage site in
Oman/ UAE area and would like us to receipt inspect those
operational rations incoming. COL Trask said get mission
request in writing for LTC Lively (or replacement) to review
and act on. COL Trask thinks we should support it only if
requested and only if can't inspect before leaving warehouse
#34. Then we would only have to do cyclical Class 9 at
POMCUS site if Air Force requests and has no assets to
inspect themselves. Air Force must agree in request to
provide Vet Corps with flights, car transportation, and
housing or MIPER for TDY for same or we can't support.
9. Unit Concerns:
a. Both new warrant officers want to stay in country and
MAJ Gaiser requests Munoz be MST CDR at KKMC where all food
mission after 422nd Med Det now at KKMC departs and 483rd
has to take over mission.
b. MAJ Gaiser proposed CW2 Miller could be MST OIC at
Charlie for Dammam/ Dhahran/ Al Khobar because all food
inspection mission. That would allow CPTs Whippo and Adams
to depart for Long Term Civilian Education in a timely
manner in late May and early June respectively and Warrant
Officers could keep food mission on track for 483rd until
new Veterinary Corps officers arrive. COL Trask concurs
