                ANNEX E (MEDICAL) TO FORSCOM DEMOBI-LIZATION PLAN (FDP) FOR
                OPERATION DESERT SHIELD


                    C. Health Counseling.

                         (1) Soldiers will be counseled by the DES staff at the
                demobilization station regarding advantages and disadvantages of
                a medical examination prior to separation from active service
                and the requirement for the USAR soldier to request such an
                examination.

                         (2) Soldiers will be given administrative instructions
                on how to report and receive treatment for any DESERT SHIELD
                related illnesses or conditions.

                         (3) Soldiers will be informed of the symptoms
                associated with endemic diseases which have long incubation
                periods and which may not become obvious until after
                demobilization.

                         (4) Soldiers will be informed of the limitations of
                medical and dental benefit restrictions following separation
                from active Federal service.

                    d. Health Benefits.

                         (1) Soldiers injured during the redeployment and
                demobilization process will undergo appropriate medical care and
                be returned to the facility closest to mobilization/home
                station.
                         (2) Soldiers who are hospitalized when their active
                duty is scheduled to terminate will be continued in a pationti
                status and draw pay and allowances. They are not on active duty
                once their orders expire.
                         (3) Soldiers who are still under treatment When their
                active duty is scheduled to terminate will be dropped from the
                records of the medical holding unit. Such persons may @emain in
tus and
                draw pay and allowances. They are not on active duty once their
                orders expire.

                4. EXECUTION.

                    a. Medical Screening. Upon arrival at and prior to
                departure from demobilization station (DMS):
                         (1) All ARNG soldiers shall be examined as to physical
                fitness.
