SUBJECT: Command Report Operation Desert Storm
SU Y OF OPERATIONAL HIGHLIGHTS AND ACTIVITIES
Major Elements
(a) 803d Medical Group arrived in theater on 21 December 1990.
The main body deployed to KKMC on 29 December and became
operational as a command and control headquarters within 12
hours.
(b) During the period of 9 January 91 through I March 91 the
803d Medical Group coordinated the Anthrax Vaccine distribution
and administration program in the King Khalid Military City
(KKMC) area. The program was divided into two phases.
In the first phase, 9 January through 15 January, 32,000
doses of vaccine were distributed. In the second phase, 7
February through I March, 54,900 doses were distributed, of this
total of 86,900 doses, 18,000 doses were directly administered
by personnel of the 803d Medical Group. The remaining 68,900
doses were distributed to Viii Corps, VII Corps, and various EAC
Army and Air Force units for administration by their own organic
medical personnel.
On 7 February 91, the 803d Medical Group made distribution
of 44,730 doses of Botulism Vaccine to the VII
corps.
(c) 13 January 1991 - Briefed 22nd SUPCON Deputy Commander BG
GUeSt. Brief focused on the Group's mission, capabilities and
concept of operation.

Group established tactical operation for all sections - 24 hour
manning through 17 MAR 1991.
(e) 14 January 1991 - 343d Medical Detachment (RA) developed
evacuation aviation procedures. ARCENT then published a
procedure to theater for incoming non-803d Xedevac aircraft
utilizing Medical (Med) Base America.
(f) 14 January 1991 - The Group tests its rear battle alert
system in preparation for the air war.
(g) 15 January 1991 - 803d Medical Group tasked to support
Convoy Support Centers Whiskey and Victor with two ground
ambulances at each location and on-call medevac support.
(h) 17 January 1991 - First hospital treatment beds were
