Transportation Detachments, 68th Transportation Battalion,
and 3&Otti Transportation Company were issigned to ARCENT
SUPCOM; the 10th MASH Battalion, 517th Medical Company,
52nd Engineer Battilion, 759th Military Police Battalion,
and 984th Military Police Compiny, were assigned
throughout XVIII Airborne Corps, and the 165th A'T'E ind
223nd Medical Detachment (PM) were assigned to Vil Corps.
The result was that the 43rd CSG deployed to way,, was
dissected, and recreated with an ad hoc task organization
with which it had never trained. This was a challenge that
the 43yd CSG overcame early on during this mission.
3. After marshalling, both Corps Support Battalions and
HHC, 43rd CSG departed for their staging area, Support
Base (SB) Buffalo (P-U600400) on 4 November In order
to support the lst Cav, which was the priority mission
during Operation Desert Shield, the 43rd CSG maintained
the 169th CSB at SD Buffalo, while 544th C B and the 43rd
CSG (forward) deployed to SB Armadillo (TO.844965). This

was done to support the ARCEi41- contingency plan,
which @ixd the It C@xv as the XVIII Airborne Corps
counterattack force, should any Iraqi. forces attempt to
penetrate the Saudi Arabian border.
4. In support of -the counterattack role of the Is-L Cav,
169tti CSB provided bickup direct Support (DS) maintenance,
light textile repair, laundry and transportation support
while the 15t Cav was in AA Horse (PUC,50450). The mission
of the 544th CSS was to provide Class III refuel on the
move and reccivery/bat-ble damage assessment and repair if
st Cavalry counterattacked. During this
phase of staging operations, the 43rd CSG provided
continuous support to the Ist Cxv and completed reception
of its remaining units which were the 644th Transportation
Company (Heavy) and the 1001st Field Services Company.
5. On 26 December 1990, the 43rd CSG supported the lst
CiRv9s displacement from AA Horse to rAA Wendy (NR320950),
a distance in excess, of 520 kilometers, with their truck
companies augmented by Ist COSCOM assets. The logistic,-xi
concept of support was to have 544th CSB provide a refuel
site e(irot-tte, And then on the division's at-id remaining
CSGs arrival at Log Base Bravo (NR500950), provide Class
I, III, IV, V, VI, And IX, and DS maintenance as Ist Cav
units closed on I'nA Wendy. The mission of 169th CSB
during this movement, was -to operate rest halts at three
locations along the f-ol-tte, as well as continue direct
support maintenance, transportation, IxLtndry, and textile
