43rd Corps Support Group Chronology
1. During the Operation Desert Shield phase, the 43rd
Corps Support Group (CSG) deployed under the command of
Colonel Richard E. Cadorette and began marshalling
activities on 20-@'I October 11)')ID in Cement City
(VG!191159), located outside of the city of (Id DarflMaTI. The
43rd CSG was initially tasked organized under the Ist
COSCOM, XVIII Airborne Corps. The 43rd CBS is a
headquarters element of '79 authorized personnel. The task
organization of a CSG headquarters is not set but
dependent upon its mission. Our uiission as assigned by
.1st COSCOM, was -to provide combat service support to the
Ist Cavalry Division and attach DS or Oi-jCON units to
perform this mission. 'The 43rd CSG was composed of: HHC,
43)-d CSG, 183rd Maintenance Company, Fort Carson, CO-, 1-il-iC,
544th Corps Support Battalion, 53rd Quartermaster Company
(POL), 418th Transportation Company (POL), HHC 169th Corps
Support Battalion, 9&th Trxnsportation Company (Heavy),
597th Maintenance Company, and the 254th Maintenance
Detachment, Fort Hood, TX; 915th Transportation Company
(Med), Iowa A,,-my National Guard; 340th Supply and Services
Company, Army Reserve, San Antonio, TX, 644th Trans-
portation CompAny (Heavy), Army Reserves, Beaumont, TX,,
452rd Ordnance Comptny, Army Reserve, Aberdeen, SD; 530th
Maintenance Company, Fort Knox, KY; 1544th (I-t/Med)

deployed as a slice of the 13th COSCOM from Ft Hood,
Texas, in order to support the heavy force contingent (ist
Cavalry Division and 3D ACR) assigned to the Lheater under
XVIII Airborne Corps. It wxs known that XVIII Airborne
Corps did not have the organization to provide s@teli
support itself. However, not all of the 43rd CSG's @tnits@
were deployed, ie. 73v,d Maintenance Company (GS), 4th
Finance Battalion, 50th Ordnance Company, tnd 571st
Medical Detachment (Air Ambulance) never made it. Of the
43rd CSG units that were deployed, Lhe 382Tid and 58Cth
