This was the First Cavalry Division Artillery's finest
hour. This period saw -the DIVARTY directly involved in 7
artillery raids and coordinate two more raids, which
significantly contributed 'to the theater deception plan
and the overall success of Desert Storm. The most active
of all the firing elements taking part in these raids was
our own A/El FA. 'The gunners of A/21 inundated Iraqi
targets with a total of 550 MLRS rockets--all fired prior
to the Division's crossing the breach. Several outside
firing units eagerly joined in: 1-27 FA (MLRS) from VII
Corps Artillery, who participated in the initial three
raids; 3-20 FA (155mm), the COItTItc@rfire unit for the
granddaddy of all raids--pertiaps more appropriately
labeled the "mother of tll raids"--e)
