(3) MOPP 2. The overgarment and footwear are worn,
In hot weather, the overgarment coat is left open for
ventilation. The overgarment trousers remain closed. Mg paper
is affixed to the overgarment, and the chemical protective
helmet cover is worn. The footwear is worn with the overgarment
trousers on the outside of the footwear cover. The mask/hood,
and gloves should be carried with the individual.
(4) MOPP 3. The overgarment, footwear, and mask/hood
are worn. The gloves are carried. In hot weather, the
overgarment coat and mask hood may be left open for
ventilation. The overgarment trousers remain closed. Mg paper
is affixed to the overgarment, and the chemical protective
helmet cover is worn. The footwear is worn with the overgarment
trousers on the outside of the footwear cover. The gloves
should be carried with the individual.
(5) MOPP 4. The overgarment, overboots, mask/hood and
the gloves are worn. The overgarment is worn closed and the
mask hood is pulled down and adjusted. Mg paper is affixed to
the overgarment, and the chemical protective helmet cover is
worn. The footwear is worn with the overgarment trousers on the
outside of the footwear cover. The gloves should be worn tucked
inside of the overgarment.
C. Mask Only. This is not a MOPP level. Only the
mask/hood is worn. All exposed skin must be covered with
ordinary clothing. Commanders must balance the value of
increased efficiency that Mask Only can give against the
increased risk it presents. Soldiers in Mask Only must be
inside a shelter and assume the appropriate MOPP level before
leaving the shelter.
BC Defense consists of all methods, procedures, plans
and training required to defend against the effects of nuclear,
biological, and chemical agents.
3. RESPONSIBILITIES. Commanders will:
a. Ensure that assigned or attached units possess the
capability to operate in an NBC environment.
b. Provide guidance for implementation of MOPP.
C. Ensure that monitoring and/or surveys are conducted for
hazards resulting from enemy employment of chemical weapons
systems.
