              1. PURPOSE. To prescribe procedures for the conduct of
              Chemical Defense for Ileadquazterg USARCENT.

              2. DEFINITIONS.

                  a.   CHEMICAL AGENTS are chemical substances intended for
              use in military operations to kill, seriously injure. or
              incapacitate personnel through physiological effects.    Excluded
              are riot control agents (RCA) , herbicides, smoke, and flame.

                  b.   Mission Oriented Protective Posture (MOPP) is a
              flexible system that provides maximum NBC protection for the
              individual and still allows for mission accomplishment.

                       (1) YOPP Zero. The protective mask, skin
              decontamination kit, detector paper are carried.    The
              overgarment, overboots, chemical protective helmet cover, and
              gloves are carried or stowed nearby within the work area,
              vehicle, fighting position.or the like.   MOPP Zero may be used
              when the enemy has an NBC employment capability, but chemical
              warfare has not begun, or when troops are first deployed from
              CONUS to the theater of operations.

                       (2)  MOPP 1.   The overgarment is worn.   In hot weather,
              it can be worn with the coat left open for ventilation.    The
              overgarment trousers remain closed.   Mg paper is affixed to the
rgarment, and the chemical protective helmet cover is worn.
              The overboots. mask/hood, and gloves should be carried with the
              individual.
