          AFZA-GT
SUBJECT: MIAL and M2A2 Bradley NET

                   (8) Installation of communications equipment should be
done as part of deprocessing. This is not routine, but it is
essential since the NET site will be an austere environment.
Tanks will come with radio mounts, Bradleys will not. Units will
organize communications installation and execLLte it themselves.

              d. Maintenance NET. It is estimated to take 8 days for a
battalion organizational NET and 17 days for DS/GS NET.

                   (1) Be-Fore a battalion picks up its first vehicles, at
least one half of its mechanics must be trained. The other half
of the battalion's mechanics -Focus on preparing displaced
          vehicles -For turn in.

                   (2) DS units must begin training almost a month prior.
They are under the most pressure to do multiple missions and may
          be overloaded.

                   (3) There may be no GS personnel in theater by the time
the fielding occurs. In this case, the contractor must be able
          to do the SS work.

                   (4) All Battalion tools and test equipment should be
issued to mechanics during maintenance NET. This permits them to
organize prior to actually receiving new equipment.

                   (5) The fielding team should establish maintenance NET
quotas to battalions based upon fielding date. Battalions are
          responsible for filling the quotas.

                   (6) Maintenance NET will need a separate facility with
classrooms, maintenance bays and overhead li+t. Champion MAIN
may be the best location. To start before the MlAl's arrive, we
must task 3 ACR to provide 4-8 MlAl's to be used as training
          aids.
              e. Displaced equipment will consist of both M14# Is and
          Bradleys.

 if possible.
However, displaced Mi's may be turned in "as is".

                   (2) ARCENT is responsible -For hand receipting and
          storing displaced vehicles.
                                                                                      -4
