         AFZA-ST J.,
SUBJECT: MlAl and M2A2 Bradley NET

                  (2) There are long lead time items which must be ordered
now. The fielding team can provide input.

                      - Publications. The system cannot keep up with our
         needs unless ordered now.'

                      - Training ammunition.

                      - Service ammunition. Estimated at 1 1/2 UBLs and
17 round CSR per day for -Four days. The requirement is 76,800
rounds of service ammunition. There is no increase in Bradley
         ammunition.

                      - Dummy ammunition for MIAI. This is critical
during training to load the combustible MIAI ammunition.

                  (3) Identi-Fication of -Facilities. None will be ideal.
However, finding the best possible (or bringing those found up to
standard) will become a Corps staff effort. Deprocessing
facilities need overhead lift and covered handstand work areas.
Warehouses need shelving for storage. NET maintence training
sites need covered work space, several classrooms, office space,
         and overhead lift.

             b. Reception at the Port.

                  (1) To support the fielding, the port of AD DAMMAN may
be needed for as long as 3-4 months.

                  (2) The best place to receive the vehicles is in the
warehouses at the port. Recommendation is that the Bradleys be
unloaded and stored at Pier 14 and Abrams be unloaded and stored
         at Pier 3.

                  (3) There will be no drivers to unload the vehicles.
Recommendation is pull a reception team out of Europe. The
reception and unloading team would also be the deprocessing
team. This permits units involved in NET to totally focus on
maintenance NET. The reception team formed from Europe would
         unload vehicles.

ity would continue to be provided by
ARCENT. Local security would be provided by battalions being
         NET'D on a rotating basis.
