          MEMORANDUM FOR G3, XVIII Airborne Corps

          SUBJECT: MIAI and M2A2 Bradley NET


          1. The purpose of this memorandum is to propose a "strawman"
          concept of XVIII Airborne Corps NET.

          2. Assumptions:

              a. XVIII Airborne Corps wants the -Fielding to be complete
          but done expeditiously.

              b. We will receive 616 MIAls and four battalion sets of
          M2A2s.

              C. The fielding should be done in 2 months.

              d. It will be a total package fielding as much as possible.

          3. Facts:

              a. Ist CAV Division requires 6 armor battalion and 3
          infantry battalion sets.

              b. 24 ID (M) requires 4 armor battalion and 5 infantry
          battalion sets.

              C. 3 ACR requires 3 squadron sets of Bradleys.

              d. Total requirement is 600 tanks. This includes 2 per
          battalion for -Floats. Bradley requirement is 448 M2A2s and 170
          M3A2s which includes 2 floats per battalion or squadron. The
          Division Commander will decide where floats are maintained.

          4. Fielding will occur in eight stages: Preparation for
          receipt, reception at the port, deproc:essing, maintenance NET,
          displaced equipment turn in, NET, and post NET operations.

              a. Preparation +or receipt.

                  (1) The establishment of a Corps -Fielding cell is
          critical. This should be handled by two Corps master gunners,
          one Bradley and one MIAI. The cell can be augmented as necessary
          by COSCOM and B4 logistic representatives, signal
          representatives, and 63 Training representatives. Each division
          will be tasked +or one quality captain or major +or the duration
          of the fielding. The control of the cell would be three field
          grade officers TDY from the USAREUR fielding team.
