Ambulatory Decontamination
1. At the triage point, the NCOIC will pair two soldiers to
process through the stations together. He will explain to the
soldiers that they must complete the decon procedure as a pair.
2..At station 1, a soldier will tell the casualties to put their
individual equipment into an open trash bag in front of him and
lay his weapon beside it. The soldier at station I will tell the
casualties to pick up these items at the end of the site after he
writes their names on the bags. The bags are full of STB dry mix
(2 parts STB and 3 parts sand). The soldier at station i then
shakes the bag vigorously with the equipment in it until it is
thoroughly impregnated with I)S 2. While doing this, he tells the
casualties to move on to the next station. The station no. I
soldier also decons the weapons with prepositioned M25SAI or M291
skin decon kits.
3. At station no. 2, another soldier directs casualties to
carefully cut each other's hoods off and assist each other in
doffing their BDO or CPOS and putting all of that in a pre-set
trash bags at this station. Next, they are directed to take one
uncovered combat boat and put the overboats in the trash bag.
Next, they take off their gloves and throw those in the bags.
4. At station no. 3, a soldier tells the casualties that he will
decon their protective masks and that they should close their
eyes and stop breathing while he takes their protective mask to
the mask deconner. The mask deconner should-have two trash
cans: one filled with mask decon solution or a 10 % bleach
so
take out the filters and any other unservicable operator level
parts and marry the mask up with the soldier's other equipment
which has come from the soldier working at station 1.
5. At stat.1 on no. 4, casualties are directed by a soldier to
secure their personal gear and move out for treatment.
