            .1. SITUATION%


                   a. Enemy Forces.

                         1) See Annex..B (Intelligence).

                         2) Iraq is expected to use chemical weapons. Delivery
              systems include: Surface-to-surface missiles (SCUD B, AL
              HUSSEIN, and AL ABBAS), bombs (250 and 500 kg), helicopter spray
              tanks, 122mm rockets, and mortars (82 and 120 mm). Available
              agents are 0-series nerve ((3A, BB, and GF), blister (HD and dusty
              HD), and CS. A specialized weapon that Iraq used in the Iran/

              WhLnels where'the munition explodes releasing blood agent in
              powder form. Movement of the vehicle stirs up'the powder and it
              enters the vehicles' ventilation system. There the agent, breaks
              down the collective protection filters for the  'crew and further
              chemical attacks (6 hours or more later) could effect the crew by
              by-passing damaged filters. Iraq possesses anti-personnel
              chemical mines filled with blister (HD) agent. Vehicles that
              detonate these mines will still carry the agent on the vehicle
              until it is weathered off or decontaminated. Iraq is developing
              OD, BZ, and VX, but it is believed that none are weaponized.
              -During the eight year war- with Iran, Iraq -used chemiz@s to break
              assaults by the enemy during their retreat, against rear area C2
              nodes, troop assembly areas, logistics bases, and along front
              lines during preparatory fires. Any of the above agents could be
              mixed with conventional fires, and Iraq has used more than one
       agent in a single attack.

                         3). Iraq possesses the biological agents anthrax and
              botulinum toxin in unweapanized forms.
