                       3) The FOX NBC recon vehicles will check breach lanes
             for contamination as illustrated below. They will be available
             to the 2d Brigade Crossing Area Commander for further chemical
             recons following their initial checks until the Brigade is
             rel.ieved of the crossing area command.




















                       4) If the lanes have been subject to any type of
             explosive ordnance since the FOX recons, they could potentially
             be contaminated. Units seeing lanes hit by any explosive        I
             ordnance will remove "clean" lane markers if possible and report
             the incident through to the Crossing Area Commander who will
             direct the FOXes to rer-on the lane that was attacked. Units
             seeing lanes under attack to their front could be directed to use
             a different lane.

                       5) All units will report through to the BrigaiJe TOC
             locations of natural and man-made water sources suitable for
             decon operations. Units will document grid locations fo@ these
             potential decon sites -For use at a later time. Appendix 3 (Decon
             Site Log) has been provided to assist tracking sites. Units
             passing decon sites listed in Appendix 2 (NBC Matrix) will report
             their potential use as a decon site and the type of decon
             operation that the site will support (i.e. platoon hasty, platoon
             deliberate, company deliberate, etc.).

                       6) Use non-potab le water before potable water +or
             decon operations.

                       7) Battalions are responsible -For removing gross
             contamination from chemically contaminated casualties (using
             expedient, M25E3AI or M291 wipes) and segregating them from clean
rt Battalion is
             responsible for deliberately decontaminating casualties as part
             of the treatment that they receive from the'forward'support
             battalion. See Appendix 4 (Chemical Casualty Decontamination).
