improve these samplers further and to overcome difficulties such &a
those encountered under low temperature conditions.
e. Sedimentation -Collecting particles by gravity settlement on an
agar Plate is a slow method, and has the serious disadvantage of being
selective for larger particles Within a size range of little
significance in connection with biological operations.
f. Centrifugal Samplers - Centrifugation ensures the effective
deposition of particles of all sizes. As the deposition takes place on
solid surfaces, it is necessary to transfer the particles into liquid
suspension for further examination. Several devices are available.
They have, however, only moderate air flow capacities (mostly less than
50 licres of air per minute).
