be in the usual laboratory armamentarium. IL is not yet known how
specific the information provided by the above approaches would be.
The medical officer Must advise the commander of the potential impact
of the disease on current and planned operations. Also, he or she must
provide for appropriate medical responses in circumstances which
require either preventive or therapeutic measures. Higher echelons of
command must be made aware of-the attack and of its nature. Once a
biological attack has been confirmed, responsible commanders can
reasonably assume that all attacks, regardless of site or facilicy, may
include biological weapons.
