Marines repositioned in the outskirts of Kuwait City in
preparation to support possible continued operations in
the City. lith Marines units continued to collect vast
amounts of Iraqi equipment and ammunition. With the
immediate Iraqi threat eliminated, Division set MOPP level
zero. Specific noteworthy events included:
0320: DIVISION CONTINUED ATTACK FORWARD TO ISOLATE AND SECURE MEF OBJECTIVE
C, KUWAIT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, MEETING LITTLE RESISTANCE AND
REQUIRING NO ARTILLERY SUPPORT.
0657: TF SHEPHERD SECURED MEF OBJECTIVE C, KUWAIT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
0745: TF TARO ARRIVED AND BEGAN CLEARING KUWAIT INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.
1100: 3/11 REPOSITIONED TO FIRING POSITIONS NEAR GRID UT 77 35, COMPLETELY
FIRECAP READY IN THE NEW POSITIONS AT 1430.
il3O: REGIMENTAL JUMP CP DISPLACED FORWARD TO OUTSKIRTS OF KUWAIT CITY,
OCCUPIED POSITION AT GRID UT 821 285 AND ASSUMED CONTROL AT 1600.
1200: 3/12 REPOSITIONED TO FIRING POSITIONS NEAR GRID QT 80 31, COMPLETELY
FIRECAP READY IN NEW POSITIONS AT 1430.
1437: A11112 DISPLACED FURTHER FORWARD IN SUPPORT OF TF GRIZZLY AND COMPLETED
OCCUPATION OF FIRING POSITION AT GRID QT 772 054.
1600: 5/11 REPOSITIONED FORWARD TO NEW FIRING POSITIONS NEAR GRID QT 80 35,
FIRECAP READY IN NEW POSITIONS AT 1944.
1615: DIVISION ASSUMED MOPP LEVEL ZERO.
2300: FRAGO ISSUED TO 5/11 TO DISPLACE SOUTH OUT OF TF RIPPER'S ZONE TO
ENABLE TF RIPPER TO REPOSITION UNITS AWAY FROM AMMUNITION/CHEMICAL
HAZARD AREAS.

28 February All Division offensive operations ceased at 0700, and units
were instructed to discontinue taking NAP and Cipro pills.
llth Marines continued repositioning to consolidate and
avoid hazardous ammunition and chemical dumps. Units
continued to recover Iraqi equipment and ammunition. Plans
were developed for the retrograde of ammunition to the
Ammunition Supply Point at Mishab and for the recovery of
ammunition left behind during the attack through Kuwait.
Plans were also developed for the retrograde of the llth
Marines on 4 March to the Division Support Area at Manifa
Bay.
0700: DIVISION INSTRUCTED ALL UNITS TO CEASE OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS.
0748: DIVISION INSTRUCTED ALL UNITS TO DISCONTINUE TAKING NAP AND CIPRO
PILLS.
