           1750:   TF PAPA BEAR ESTABLISHED BREACH LANES THROUGH SECOND OBSTACLE BELT.

           1800:   EFFECTS OF ARTILLERY FIRES CALLED FOR BY TF PAPA BEAR CROSS OVER INTO--
                   TF RIPPER'S ZONE NEAR GRID DS 815 976 INJURING ONE MARINE AND ONE NAVY
                   CORPSMAN, AND KILLING 2 AND INJURING 23 IRAQI EPW'S. CASUALTIES
                   EVACUATED TO AND TREATED BY 3/11 BAS.

           25 February          Operation Desert Storm 0+1. As the Division continued its
                                assault towards Al Jaber, lith Marines continued to displace
                                units through the second obstacle belt. As this
                                displacement was taking place, an Iraqi counterattack force
                                was identified as forming in the Al Burqan oilfield. After
                                reorienting the regiment on these targets, the regiment
                                massed on the Iraqi 5th Mechanized/Armored Brigade and the
                                Iraqi 26th Armored Brigade breaking up any organized
                                counterattack. Elements of these forces were scattered in
                                the direction of the Division CP and 1/11. Battery "All 1/11
                                exchanged automatic weapons fire with Iraqi vehicles and
                                engaged those vehicles with howitzer direct fire. Battery
                                "H" 3/14 later engaged two Iraqi multiple rocket launchers
                                (MRL) with howitzer direct fire and automatic weapons
                              .destroying one launcher and preventing the Iraqis from
                                firing the MRLS. lith Marines units continued to collect
                                numerous Iraqi EPW's as units moved forward. By the
                                end of the day, 3/11, 1/11, 3/12 and 5/11 had occupied
                                positions beyond the second obstacle belt in preparation for
                                a 26 February attack an MEF Objective C, Kuwait
                                International Airport. The organization for combat was
                                changed to support that attack as follows:

                                    1/11:  GS, on order DS TF Papa Bear.
                                    3/11:  DS TF Ripper.
                                    5/11:  66, Priority Calls for Fire TF Shepherd.
                                    1/12:  DS TF XRay/Tara, dedicated battery to TF Grizzly.
                                    3/12.  Rein 3/11.


                                Other specific noteworthy events included:

           0009:   C/l/12 REPORTED 69 EPW'S CAPTURED.


           0030:   G/3/11 AND E/2/12 RECEIVED INCOMING INDIRECT FIRE; NO        CASUALTIES.

           0109:   DIVISION SET CONDITION "DODGER" DUE TO AN ANTICIPATED        ENEMY
                   COUNTERATTACK WHICH NEVER MATERIALIZED.


           0148:   IST MARINE DIVISION/2D MARINE DIVISION BOUNDARY SHIFTED EAST TO
                   A LINE FROM OT 70 12 TO QT 72 30.


           0745:   1/11 BEGAN DISPLACEMENT BY ECHELON WITH H/3/14 AND 1/3/11.
                   MOVEMENT WAS DELAYED AT SECOND BREACH SITE DUE TO TF PAPA BEAR'S
                   ENGAGEMENT TO EAST.
