LIBEFTATION CF KUHAIT CITY
The United States Marines' and Coalition Forces# attacks to
Isolate and secure Kuwait City achieved unprecedented success.
The savage brutality and wanton criminal actions of the occupying
Iraqi forces became readily apparent. Surrounding oil fields
raged as an uncontrollable inferno and the blackened sky turned
day Into night. Kuwaiti citizens related accounts of ruthless
rapes, murder, plllage, despair, howe 'ver, the Kuwaiti population
and the resiliency of mankind surfaced. The Kuwaitis asked for no.
Sympathy; made no requests for support. Instead, the Kuwaitis
graciously opened their homes and hearts to A-wrican Wrines with
thanks In recognition of the liberation of their city. The
Kuwaiti citizens' joy and happiness confirmed the value of freedom
and the justness of the conflict. A small Kuwaiti young girls,
gift of tiny Kuwait and United States flags to American t-iarlnes
suddenly erased six months of challenges itnd sacrifices by the
Marines In the harsh and desolate Saudi desert.
