                                       STORY #@ LAI SN

             On 26 Feb 91 as Ist LAI Bn moved porth to Kuwait City we passed
             one group of prisoners heading south.surrendering that a certain
             funny looking soldier. This man was walkin., south with his hands
             up and was so frightened that he would not drop his hands for two
             seconds to hitch up his trousers which were around his &nkles.





                                       STORY #2 LAI SN'
             Prior to the start of t@e ground war,, A Co, lat LAI Bn was
             involved in the processing of many Iraqi defectors at OP 6 along
             the central area of the Saudi - Kuwait border.   Late on night a
             Cpl dismounted his LAV to assist his scouts in the capture of
             three Iraqi soldiers standing in front of his vehicle with their
             arms raised. As the Marines approached the senior Iraqi asked in
             English, 'you are U.S. Army?'   'No, atid the Marine Cpl, we are
             Marines.' They flung themselves on the deck and began speaking
             hysterically among themselves in Arabic.   Wh*n they had been
             searched and the Marines were beginning to cuff them, the Iraqi
             asked again; 'you are really Marines?* 'Yes came the reply.*
             *You are going to kill me now?*   'No no, said the Cpl, Othis is
             the best decision you ever made; we are going to feed you and give
             you water, you are out of the war.'   'No said the Iraqi, you are
             Marines you are going to kill us.'

             The EPWs' continued to believe this until they had a MRE in their
             hands and water in their bellies.   Their leader had told them that
             Marines had to kill a member of their Immediate family in order to
             join the Corps.
