AVIATION SUPPLY DEPARTW.ENT
During the month of February, the Aviation Supply Department
continued to support the eight tactical squadrons of MAG-16 and
the Intermediate Maintenance Activity supporting offensive
operations in Operation Desert Storm. The month of February
witnessed a continued Increase In the Mission Capable/Full Mission
Capable rates for MAG-16 aircraft and a related decrease in off
station Not Mission Capable (NM.CS) requirements. The average off
station AKO, AK7 count for the month was 85 and 50 respectively.
This Is especially noteworthy in light of the fact that this
command was supporting 105 aircraft flying high tempo combat
operations. Additionally, tremendous organization and efficient
material management was required to support four operating sites
utilized by MAG-16 squadrons (Ras Al Ghar, NAF Jubail, Tanajlb and
Lonesome Dove).
In support of the MAG-16 displacement from NAF Juball to
Tanajib, the MALS-16 Supply Department rebuilt Fly In Support
Packages (FISP's) for al I Type/Model/Series alrcra,4t. These FISP's
were uti I I zed to support operat I ons as the squadrons eche I oned
forward to the new operating site. The FISP's accounted for over
4,000 line Items and prov I ded an 80% f I I I rate for aviation
demands.
The entire Aviation Supply Department completed its
displacement to Tanajib in four days and was fully operational
within five days. Thismove encompassedover 65 mobile facilities,
26,000 line items and an Automated Data Processing (ADP) system.
