COL REDLIN: That's all I have.
COL HILL: The comm survey along the southern border and up
around the elbow parts, this morning they will be out there today
and then finish up tomorrow.
We are noticing a number of messages coming through the
comm center - some of them are comm shifts, some of them are
movement reports, flight notifications, that are coming through
in unclass. While each one of them may be unclass in and of
themselves, all of them together are classified, and I would
recommend that messages be classified. That's all I have.
COL HASTINGS: Do we need to put something out to advise folks
"keep them classified for opsec"71
COL HILL: Put out a memo as a reminder. I will work with the 2
on that.
COL SHOTWELL: Sir, you may have seen some message traffic on the
CBS 48 Hours crew coming out. The plan right now is that one
will deploy with 2d Division, specifically 1/8. The other crew
is flying out here. We have set up with them to stay with 1/5.
They wanted to stay with a unit that's been here for awhile, so
that's falling in place. David Martin, who is the CBS Pentagon
correspondent, is out here right now, will be the correspondent
going out with 1/5. Also, we are anticipating quite a bit of --
GEN BOOMER: You can swing him through here just for a chat.
COL SHOTWELL: All right, sir. Also we are anticipating a lot of
news media interest in the MPS offload. We will bring them in
tomorrow morning. That's all I have, sir.
CAPT WILLIAMS: Morning, sir. we are making our plans to meet
our arriving chaplains coming in tomorrow. That time may slide a
bit, so we are not sure of the time of arrival at the moment, but
we will be there. That's all I have, sir.
CAPT CRIM: Morning, sir. We are watching as closely as we can
the disease situation in Kuwait. We get periodic input to us
from the Armed Forced Medical Intelligence Center - it has pretty
good information. The public health system up there is pretty
much shot, the medical system is disruptive. If the Iraqis
didn't pull out and we go in there after a week of bombing and
disruption, panic, people drinking water out from the gutter,
eating who knows what, we would have a great threat to our force,
and the paperwork load in trying to take care of refugees. We
have already sent a message back asking any medical systems to
stand by to accept us, more medicine teams. It will be very
difficult to give shots and so forth. There are many of them.
Some of then don't have any prophylaxis. Rat control, water,
power. There's an indication there's a lot of preventive
medicine measures we need to keep. That's all I have, sir.
GEN BOOMER: You can get a cholera shot.
