During the attack into the bl@rnirig Al Burqan c),-lfielci, 1/1
coordinated with B Co, lst LAI on the Battal-ion's left flank
over 1/1 Bn TAC. This was cri-ti(,.al since the visibility in the
oilfield was reduced to So meters at some points due to the
thick smoke. By 1.600, 1/1 was positioned along the 03 grid
line, B Co on the left (vic QT 860@@) and A Co on hill 114 (vic
OT 8803). D Co finis@ie(i sweeping its zone, handling hundreds
of EPWS. By 1900, D Co Occupied hill 127 (vic OT 8903).
During the day's fighting, 1/1 accounted for at least 43
vehicles destroyed and over 500 EPW'S. Of note is the fact.
that, due to the heavy smoke, most of the vehicle L-ill.s came
from I'OW'-@ rising its thermal sights. The smoke precluded the
use of CAS aixc,-rtft. 1/3. sustained t@iree WIA when an RPG
impacted in front of a STA vehicle. 111's attack apparently
hit the southern flank of an enemy counterattack coming from
the east.
DLiT@irtcl tfic-. afternoon of the 25tYi, Ist Tank Bn located and
engaged, w th Cobras and fixed@-wing air and arti-11@ry, a dug-in

order to facili-tiate this surrender. At 1630, Division passed
Responsibility of the f@syor)s mission to TF Papa Bear. However,
the Psy0ps helicopter failed to arrive and the opportunity was
missed.
TF X-Ray landed sout.Yi of the second obstacle belt at
pproximately 150(-) and came Linder operational control of TF
Papa 15(@ar. By 1830, it, had moved north of the second obstacle
belt and into BP X-Ray.
A continual problem througviout the course of the day was
the handling of the large number of EPWs which were being
collected. By 1600, the Task Force had gathered over 1500
EPW'S. The lack of transportation hindered the ability to
evacuate the F,'PW's to the central collection point in TE'
Ripper's zone. Throughout the day, the EPWs were guarded by A
Cc, '7th ESB. The task of guarding the EPWs was eventually
passed to a platoon from I Co 3/9. By 1830, transportation
arrived to commence the transfer of EPW's to the Division
collection point. This evolution was completed by 0200 26
Fe-bruax,y and the platoon from India Company rejoined i-4t Tank
