         4. Narrative Summary,

MAG-11 Hornet squadrons continued to man the Northern Persian
Gulf CAP for the first half of the month of January. The Black
Knights manned the CAP from 1130 through 2330 the week of 29
December, and from 2330 through 1130 on the 16th of January.
Responsibility for the CAP was turned over to the Navy at the
         beginning of Desert Storm.
Air to ground training was emphasized during the month of
January. High altitude/high angle and night FLIR bombing were
the two types of deliveries most practiced. Four MAG-11 practice
strikes were conducted during the first half of the month. These
strikes were flown over routes similar in length and by the same
pilots that would fly the actual strikes on the opening days of
         the war against Iraq.
Operation Desert Storm began on 17 January, 1991. The
targeting objectives of Desert Storm Phase I were as follows:

               Leadership Targets
d Control Systems
Air Defense Radars and Air Defense Weapon Systems
               Airfields and Aircraft
Chemical and Biological Weapons Delivery Systems
Chemical and Biological Weapons Production Facilities
               Surface to Surface Missile Systems
               Lines of Communication
               Strategic Reserves (RGFC)
               Supply and Industrial Bases
               Gain and Maintain Air Superiority
